Pierre Edouard was born in 1959. From a very young age he was fond of drawing and painting. With his father, a painter himself, he discovered the world of Art. He was just fourteen when he created his first sculptures, drawing and painting at the same time. The works of this period are influenced by Khmer sculpture and Giacometti.

Later follows an abstract period when he discovered the great American abstract painters, especially Mark Rothko, who would remain an important reference.

After this journey of “pure painting”, he went back to figuration, but through abstraction, keeping forever the traces of it.

He began creating his first drawings. The first “Heads” were produced during this period. Along with this, is the discovery of what becomes the “uninterrupted surface modeling” vision from which he will conceive the work to come. This vision leads him to consider all shape as a modeling of light and shade, a true almost musical use of shadows.

At the age of twenty one Pierre Edouard joined the Claude Bernard Gallery. His collaboration with this famous gallery made him meet remarkable artists as Balthus, Bacon, Cesar, Raymond Mason, Sam Szafran, Lopez-Garcia.

And in 1989 he has his first personal exhibition of paintings and drawings. He will exhibit his work there regularly and it can be seen there permanently.

From this period are the “Double Portraits”, the “Groups” , and the first “Leaning men” which foreshadow his sculpting work. What follows his a complete series of pastels and drawings along the theme “Woman on a ladder”. He develops here a deconstruction of the figure in fragments - the picture now has gaps.

At the start of the nineties, Pierre Edouard started sculpting again as a full time occupation, and sculpture seems more suited to his need for surface-modelling and space. The public discovers in 2001 gravity free women : the theme of Eve or Noût. This theme will now invade his work.

Pierre-Edouard won the” Grand Prize of the Prince Pierre Foundation of Monaco” and received First Prize (followed by an exhibition in Monaco) in 2003. In 2008 he was elected to the Institut de France, in the seat of Albert Féraud.

His work goes on, including sculpture, drawing, and engraving. The recurrence of these themes makes each work a step and the whole a work in progress.
